PRESIDENT <\/strong>Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. urged on Monday the 39 newly-promoted officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to be cognizant of existing and emerging threats against the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In his speech during the oath-taking ceremony of the newly-promoted AFP generals and flag officers, President Marcos said the threats could jeopardize the peace efforts of the administration as he reminded them of the heavier responsibilities attached to the stars added on their shoulders.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThere is much still left to do, missions to accomplish, service to be selflessly rendered to the people that we have all sworn to protect with our lives,\u201d President Marcos told the newly-promoted officials.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cBe mindful always of the weight that carries. After all, the load that you feel are in fact our people\u2019s hopes. Especially now that we are at the juncture of our history where our nation faces complex security challenges.,\u201d the Commander-in-Chief added.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n President Marcos said the response to the existing and emerging challenges requires the bold thinking and brave action of the military as he expressed confidence that they will be able to respond to them effectively.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThis is the landscape that confronts you now. It is the security terrain that you have to address in the remaining tours of duty of your career,\u201d the Chief Executive said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cAs senior officers in our armed service, may the stars conferred upon you serve as an inspiration in performing your duties with utmost dedication, professionalism, integrity, all worthy of emulation,\u201d he added.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Before concluding his speech, President Marcos expressed confidence that the AFP members will remain committed to their sworn statement to protect and serve the Philippines and the Filipino people. <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" PRESIDENT Ferdinand R.
