PHILIPPINES greatest gymnast Carlos Yulo has <\/strong> overhauled Philippine sports history after winning the second gold in Paris Olympics on Sunday in just 24 hours.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Yulo ruled the men’s gymnastics vault finals held at Bercy Arena.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n After his floor exercise win on Saturday, Yulo became the first Filipino male athlete to win multiple golds in the Olympics on a single year.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n His first try set the tone for the rest of the final round as his near-perfect routine garnered him 15.433 points, the highest single-vault attempt score for the night.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n After tallying a 14.8 in his second vault, he finished with a total 15.116, enough to deny Great Britain a 1-2 finish.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Armenian Artur Davtyan, the last to perform, scored two consistent runs for a 14.966 average to overtake the British duo of Harry Hepworth and Jake Jarman and take the silver.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Hepworth, who scored the best second attempt with 15.066 points, ended up with the bronze at 14.949.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Half-Filipino gymnast Jarman, who was bronze medalist in the floor finals, dropped to fourth at 14.933.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, the country’s first gold medalist in Tokyo, immediately posted a message congratulating Yulo.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Congratulations ulit, Caloy! Ang galing! Ipinagmamalaki kita hindi lang sa mga medalya mo kundi dahil sa hirap na pinagdaanan mo para makamit ang tagumpay, para sa sarili at higit pang lalo, para sa bayan,\u201d Diaz wrote on Facebook.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino told reporters in Paris that Yulo\u2019s win was an answered prayer.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. congratulated Yulo on his social media account.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n “We’ve witnessed history as Carlos Yulo clinched the Philippines’ first Gold medal in artistic gymnastics at the Paris 2024 Olympics,” the President said, adding that he is “confident that it will not be the last.”<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Congratulations, Caloy!
