PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos welcomed Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and his spouse, Mrs. Jane Ittogi Shanmugaratnam at Malaca\u00f1an Palace on Thursday as they embark on a three-day state visit to the Philippines.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n President Shanmugaratnam and his wife arrived past 4:00 p.m. at Malaca\u00f1an and were accorded arrival honors.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n President Marcos introduced President Shanmugaratnam to Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, and Health Secretary Ted Herbosa.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n He also introduced Environment Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, and Communications Secretary Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo Antonio G. Macaraig was also present during the event.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n President Shanmugaratnam also introduced President Marcos to the Singaporean delegation.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The two chief executives proceeded to the Reception Hall for the customary signing of the Palace guestbook and were ushered for a private discussion, followed by a bilateral meeting.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Prior to the Palace visit, President Shanmugaratnam offered a wreath at Dr. Jose Rizal\u2019s monument in Luneta.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Singapore President will conclude his first state visit to the Philippines on August 17, 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" PRESIDENT Ferdinand R.
