PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. honored four Filipino Olympians in a ceremony in Malaca\u00f1an Palace on Thursday.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The President granted the athletes cash incentives and presidential citations.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Chief Executive awarded Olympic golfer Dottie Ardina and gymnasts Aleah Finnegan, Emma Lauren Malabuyo, and Levi Jung-Ruivivar with P1 million each from the Office of the President.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Each athlete was also presented with a presidential citation and a jacket.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cFerdinand R. Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines, presents this Presidential Citation in recognition of exemplary performance in the 2024 Paris Olympics, for demonstrating the Olympic ideals of excellence, respect, and friendship, thereby giving honor and pride to the Filipino nation, and for inspiring Filipino athletes to dream, aspire for, and achieve Olympic feats,\u201d the citation read.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In an interview following the ceremony, the President explained that Thursday\u2019s event was arranged for the athletes who were not able to attend last week\u2019s ceremony.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cKaya\u2019t sabi namin pareho naman \u2018yung kanilang pinaghirapan, so dapat \u2014 isama rin natin doon sa lahat ng mga pagtanggap sa ating mga Olympian ng ating ginawa,\u201d President Marcos told reporters.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cSayang lang hindi nila naabutan \u2018yung parada, pero at least lahat ng\u2026 everything else ay nagawa nila. So, we\u2019re happy we were able to do something extra for those that did not make it to the first one,\u201d he added.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Golfer Bianca Pagdanganan was also invited to the event but is presently in the United States. She will also receive the same incentives.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Before the ceremony, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) also handed over a symbolic check worth P1 million to each athlete.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n During the Pagbibigay Dangal: A Heroes\u2019 Welcome Celebration for the Philippines\u2019 Paris 2024 Olympians held at Malaca\u00f1an Palace last week, President Marcos gave double Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo P20 million and a Presidential Medal of Merit.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Bronze medalists Aira Cordero Villegas and Nesthy Alcayde Petecio received P2 million each.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The President also gave P1 million each to the rest of the Olympians and P500,000 each to their coaching teams.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" PRESIDENT Ferdinand R.
