DISMISSED <\/strong> Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo is now back in the Philippines.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n She arrived in the country wearing an orange t-shirt with CIDG detainee mark at 1:30 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The private aircraft carrying Guo landed at the Royal Star Aviation Hangar at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco said Guo was accompanied by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr. and Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rommel Marbil.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The private aircraft carried a total of eight passengers and three crew members.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Upon her arrival, the BI immediately executed the mission order against the former mayor, who is facing charges of undesirability and misrepresentation under Philippine immigration laws.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThe return of Alice Guo is a significant achievement for the Philippine justice system and highlights the effective collaboration between international counterparts and law enforcement agencies. This operation demonstrates our unwavering commitment to ensuring that justice prevails, no matter the boundaries,” Tansingco, in a statement said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Guo was arrested by the Indonesian authorities in an apartment in Tangerang City, Jakarta early Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The dismissed Bamban mayor underwent medical checks upon her arrival.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Guo expressed fears for her life and sought help from Abalos.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cSec, patulong. May death threats po kasi ako,\u201d she said moments after she shook hands with Abalos when they met inside an Indonesian police office in Jakarta.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Her remarks were recorded during a livestreamed broadcast on the secretary\u2019s Facebook page, but his response was not clearly recorded.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Abalos assured Guo of her safety and said a chartered a flight would take her back to Manila.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In a press briefing shortly after their arrival, Abalos said they “raced against time” to ensure Guo’s return to the Philippines.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Bandang tanghali, nakatanggap ako ng tawag na binibigyan tayo ng hanggang 1 a.m. ng Indonesia authorities kung hindi ito aalis pa Pilipinas, baka pakawalan nila si Alice Guo dahil maaari silang kasuhan ng illegal detention kaya agad tayong naghanap ng eroplano, kung hindi hindi tayo aabot sa flight, may kaibigan ako na nagpahiram ng eroplano kasi hahabulin natin ung ala una,\u201d Abalos said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Abalos and Marbil arrived in Indonesia early Thursday to meet with Indonesian authorities regarding Guo’s turnover.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The DILG chief credited Guo’s arrest to the strong cooperation between the PNP and the Indonesian National Police.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n He also thanked Indonesian authorities for their cooperation.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In 2017, the two police forces signed a memorandum of agreement on intelligence exchange and joint efforts in combating transnational crime, which include cooperation in searching for fugitives.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Last July 13, the Senate issued an arrest order against Guo for repeatedly failing to attend the upper chamber\u2019s investigation into the raided POGO hub in her town.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The dismissed mayor is also facing a total of 87 counts of money laundering, along with a human trafficking complaint, in connection to the raided POGO hub in Bamban.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n On Thursday, the Tarlac Regional Trial Court Branch 109 <\/strong> <\/strong>issued a warrant of arrest against Guo for violation of Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Alice Guo allegedly left the country in July with her sister, Sheila Guo, and brother, Wesley Guo, through boats.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The dismissed Bamban mayor <\/strong>is temporarily detained in Camp Crame, Quezon City.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" DISMISSED Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo is now back in the Philippines.
