CARDIOLOGIST and health advocate Dr. Willie Ong will run for senator despite battling cancer.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The doctor-vlogger made the announcement on Monday.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In a video uploaded on his Facebook page, Ong said his wife, Dr. Anna Liza Ramoso, will file his certificate of candidacy at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on October 2.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n He said he will run as an independent candidate.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cMagpa-file po ako for senator. I\u2019ll be filing for senator on October 2, Wednesday. Nagawa ko na \u2018yung papeles, na-notarize ko na\u2026Si Doc Liza\u2026siya magpa-file ng sa akin pero ako ang tatakbo,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Ong appealed to his followers to support his senatorial bid.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cHabol ko lang naman number 12. Isingit niyo na lang ako,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll do it the cleanest way. Hindi tayo connected sa admin, Duterte, opposition\u2026Ako lang mag-isa, no one else. If they help me, thank you. \u2018Pag hindi, thank you. Wala akong utang, wala akong hinihigi\u2026Walang kapalit,\u201d said Ong. <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Ong said his mission is to save the country from corruption.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cSecond mission ko, i-si-save ko ‘yung bansa sa corruption, sa evil, tsaka aayusin natin ‘yung healthcare. I have to do it. Something’s telling me,\u201d he said. <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Last month, Ong revealed he is undergoing treatment for a sarcoma, a 16 x 13 x 12 centimeter tumor found in his abdomen, hidden behind his heart and in front of his spine.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Sarcoma is a type of cancer that affects the bones and soft tissues.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Despite his health challenges, Ong remains committed to his advocacy.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" CARDIOLOGIST and health advocate Dr. Willie Ong will run for senator despite battling cancer.
