INSPIRED by the works and wisdom of his father, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. vowed on Friday to carry on his father\u2019s legacy by working to drive the development of the country and improve the living condition of ordinary Filipinos.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In his remarks during his visit to his father\u2019s tomb at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City, President Marcos highlighted the sincerity and dedication of his father and namesake, former president Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr..<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The President said he observed the good leadership qualities of his father as a young child.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cNgayon na nakaupo ako bilang Pangulo, mas lalong naging mahalaga ang kanyang mga salita,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cAlam ninyo pagka mayroon tayong patay nakalagay diyan RIP, rest in peace. Siyempre \u2018yan din ang ninanais natin para sa aking ama. Ngunit hindi sapat na sasabihin lang natin rest in peace. Para mag-rest in peace ang aking ama, kailangan ipagpatuloy natin ang trabahong sinimulan niya, ipagpatuloy natin ang pagpaganda ng Pilipinas, at ang pagmamahal sa Pilipino,\u201d he added.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n President Marcos also expressed gratitude to all those who continue to support the Marcos family over the years.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cKaya\u2019t nasisiyahan po ako dahil nandito po kayo dahil kahit papaano ay mahalaga sa amin ang naalala ang aking ama, ang kanyang buhay. Hindi mo maiwasan na may kasamang lungkot na dala \u2018yung pag-aalala na \u2018yan,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cNgunit kapag iniisip mong mabuti, may katumbas \u2013 labis na katumbas na kasiyahan, na tuwa na magagandang pag-aalala na kahit papaano ay magdadala ng ngiti sa iyong mga labi. Iyan po ang naging experience ko sa aking ama.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Former President Marcos Sr. was born on September 11, 1917, in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte. <\/p>\n <\/p>\n He was elected President of the Philippines in 1965. He served as an officer during World War II. He went on to become a Senator after serving three terms as a member of the House of Representatives. He later held the position of Minority Floor Leader before becoming Senate President.<\/strong><\/p>\n
