<\/p>\n <\/p>\n This was the warning issued by the local government of Quezon City to poll bets and incumbent public officials.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said those who are aspiring for government positions in the upcoming May 2025 elections must follow the rules and regulations being imposed by the city government, particularly against unlawful posting of political and advertising paraphernalia.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n She reminded election candidates of an ordinance passed by the City Council which requires that political propaganda must only be displayed or posted in common posting areas designated by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to the ordinance, posting of election materials on electric posts, public utilities and facilities such as street signs, traffic lights, signal posts, bridges, and overpasses is prohibited.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Among the prohibited items include streamers, tarpaulins, tin plates, stickers, pamphlets, decals, printed notices, signboards, billboards, and other advertising paraphernalia.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Each barangay will have a Comelec-designated poster area, where candidates may post their election paraphernalia.<\/p>\n The Comelec may also approve additional poster areas, including plazas, markets and barangay centers, according to the local government.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Those who will violate the ordinance will be meted a fine of P5,000 or imprisonment of not more than six months or both.<\/p>\n Business permit and other relevant permits of the offender may also be revoked, it added. <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" FOLLOW the law in putting up political banners and tarpaulins or face fines and jail terms.
