POLICE on Friday failed to serve a warrant for the arrest of Kapuso actor Ken Chan after he was not found at his home in Quezon City.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Chan, along with seven others, is facing syndicated estafa charges over an alleged anomalous investment deal worth P14 million for a restaurant venture in 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The actor allegedly failed to deliver on the sharing deal, prompting the complaint.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Under Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code, syndicated estafa is non-bailable and punishable with lifetime imprisonment.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Attorney Joseph Noel Estrada and attorney Maverick Romero of Estrada & Aquino Law Office represent the complainant, a businessman who refused to be identified.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The lawyer said the complainant transacted with Chan and gave the P14 million in two tranches in less than a year.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Chan allegedly convinced the complainant to invest in a restaurant business to receive a 10% monthly interest.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Estrada added that Chan and his co-accused are not authorized to solicit investments.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Using misrepresentation and fraudulent escapes, nakakuha sila ng pera dito sa complainant,” the lawyer said.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In 2023 the complainant filed a complaint against Chan, the lawyer said.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Police first attempted to serve Chan with a warrant of arrest in September.
