TWO people died while a senior citizen was injured in a fire that hit a residential building in Tondo, Manila on Sunday, the feast of the Sto. Niño.
The fatalities,, a 58-year-old man and his 43-year-old niece, were trapped inside their rooms and failed to escape the raging blaze.
The injured was identified as building owner Joseph Pua, 63. He suffered lacerations during the fire.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire started from the second floor of the three-storey building in Bgy. 48, Barrio Menu, Tondo, Manila
An investigation showed the fire started around 4:39 p.m. Sunday.
Responding firemen were able to put out the blaze after less than an hour.
Authorities said around 10 families were displaced by the fire while around P50,000 worth of property was destroyed.
Investigators are determining the cause of the blaze.
