FORMER Senate president Franklin Drilon has endorsed the candidacy of administration senatorial bet ex-Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin “Bunhur” Abalos Jr..
Abalos has found a solid “supporter” in Drilon, a veteran and tested politician.
Drilon told his fellow Ilonggos that the former Mandaluyong City mayor has proven his worth as a public servant over the years and will definitely deliver in the Senate.

The famous political figure of Iloilo City expressed high regards for Abalos whom he said will be instrumental in pursuing programs and projects that will sustain and further ensure the progress not only in the city but also to the entire Western Visayas.
“Mga kababayan, iboto natin si Benhur Abalos para sa Senado. Makakatulong siya sa patuloy na pag-asenso ng ating siyudad at ng ating probinsya. Number one sa Senado,” Drilon said.
Abalos expressed gratitude to the former Senate president not only for the endorsement but also for the pieces of advice relating to politics and public service.
According to the former DILG secretary, whenever he visits Iloilo City, he sees to it that visiting Drilon is always in his itinerary.
He said he always looked up to Drilon and actually one of his inspirations to run for senator.
Known for his integrity and no-nonsense public service agenda, Drilon is one of the few longest-serving senators of the country who became Senate president four times and also served various key posts in the Senate.
What further earned the respect of the Filipinos to Drilon was when he decided to retire in order to give the new breed of public servants to serve in the Senate.
