AN alleged gamecock thief on Wednesday was killed while his cohort was injured in a shootout with a police officer in Tarlac City.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, the Tarlac City police said the gunfight occurred on Aquino Blvd. in Bgy Carangian, Tarlac City.
An initial investigation showed four men were seen inside the perimeter fence of GOB Gamefarm in Bgy. Care, Tarlac City owned by PSSgt. Oneal John Alimurong, 40, assigned at the Capas Police Station.
The suspects were found stealing gamecocks and putting them in a black tricycle.
The cop tried to approach the suspects when one of the men fired a shot at him, prompting the officer to run to his house and get his service firearm.
The suspects then sped off on their getaway tricycle bringing with them several gamecocks.
The cop gave chase and upon reaching Bgy. Carangian, one of the suspects fired shots again at the police officer, who fired back, hitting two of the suspects.
The wounded suspects were brought to the Tarlac Provincial Hospital, where one of them was declared dead upon arrival.
