SIX police officers tagged in the killing of 17-year-old Jerhode “Jemboy” Baltazar surrendered to the authorities in Quezon.
According to Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 4A regional director Col. Jack Malinao, Executive MSgt. Roberto Balais Jr., Staff Sergeants Antonio Bugayong Jr., Gerry Maliban and Nikko Pines Esquilon, Cpl. Edmard Jade Blanco and Pat. Benedict Mangada, all assigned at the Navotas Police Station, voluntarily surrendered to CIDG-Quezon in Camp Guillermo Nakar, Lucena City, Quezon on Wednesday afternoon.
The surrender came after the warrant of arrest for violation of Article 248 of the Revised Penal Code or murder was issued by Navotas City Regional Trial Court Branch 286 Presiding Judge Pedro Dabu Jr. on October 3, 2023.
No bail was recommended.
The six policemen are now undergoing booking procedures and documentation for proper disposition.
Malinao said murder charges were filed before the Navotas City Regional Trial Court against the six policemen linked to the fatal shooting of Baltazar last August 2, who was mistaken for Reynaldo Bolivar, a suspect in a murder case.
Earlier, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said the filing of murder raps was evaluated from the homicide complaints lodged by the family of Baltazar before the Navotas City Prosecutor’s Office.
