MATIBAG NAMED FIRST DEAN OF ALABANG COLLEGE OF LAW

LYCEUM of Alabang chose attorney Melvin Matibag as the first Dean of its newly established College of Law.

Matibag’s appointment marks a milestone for Lyceum of Alabang as it launches its College of Law with the vision of molding future lawyers committed to integrity, justice, and public service.

Known as a staunch champion of education, Matibag is a long advocate for accessible, high-quality legal education to empower the next generation of leaders.

“This is not just about producing lawyers; it’s about shaping ethical professionals who will defend the rule of law and uplift communities,” Matibag said.

“Teaching law to the younger generations comes with a great responsibility. I am so blessed and thankful to become part of the Lyceum family,”  he said.

A graduate of Ateneo Law, Matibag, who became a lawyer in 1997, held law teaching posts at San Sebastian and Universidad De Manila.

Meanwhile, in the halls of Congress, Matibag’s wife Rep. Ann Matibag, has taken the helm of the Women and Gender Equality Committee, a powerful platform to advance women’s rights and push for policies that promote inclusivity, safety, and equal opportunities.

Widely respected for her dedication to grassroots advocacy and legislative reforms, Rep. Matibag vows to continue championing laws that protect women, children, and marginalized sectors.“

Equality is not just a goal—it is a responsibility we owe to every Filipino,” she emphasized.

The couple’s new roles highlight a unique synergy between their personal and professional lives. Both are seasoned public servants with a shared vision of creating lasting, meaningful change in the country— through education and the legal profession.

The Matibags’ mutual support as husband and wife strengthens their resolve to make a difference, showing that leadership at home can fuel leadership for the nation.

With attorney shaping the country’s future legal minds and Rep. Matibag steering national policies on gender equality, the pair continues to embody the spirit of public service—proving that when passion for service meets partnership in life, the impact can be transformative for the nation.
