AGENTS of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confiscated some P1 million worth of fake Cocomelon candies in a raid at a warehouse in Tondo, Manila.
The NBI on Monday announced that the fake candies were seized during the service of a search warrant against MBK Distribution Inc. in Tondo.
Confiscated during the operation were 111 boxes of Cocomelon Tattoo Gum and 200 boxes of Cocomelon Long Mallows.
According to the NBI, the raid was launched following a complaint filed by Orion Support Inc. (OSI) on behalf of its client, Treasure Studios Inc., the registered owner of Cocomelon.
NBI agents immediately launched a surveillance and after confirming the illicit operation, it secured a search warrant from the Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 24.
Charges of violations of Section 155 in relation to Section 170 of Republic Act No. 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines will be filed against the owners of MBK Distribution, the NBI said.
