DINALUPIHAN, Bataan — A van and tricycle collision on Sunday left two construction workers dead and two others wounded on Olongapo-Gapan Road in Bgy. Sta. Isabel, Dinalupihan, this municipality.
A report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Penones Jr. by the Bataan police identified the fatalities as Hesus Cunanan of Bgy. Sto. Rosario, and Brienel Ganiesela, 23, both in Capas, Tarlac.
Both fatalities were passengers of the tricycle.
The injured were Rommel Calderon, 31, the trike driver and a resident of Cut-Cut 1st, Capas, Tarlac, and another passenger Nico Clarin, also of Capas.
Calderon and Clarin were rushed to the JC Payumo Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Witnesses told police that the tricycle with plate no. 237 ICK being driven by Calderon allegedly crossed the yellow lane and encroached into the path of a Toyota van (plate no. CAV 1054) driven by Alden Cruz, 47, of Hermosa, Bataan.
The impact caused heavy damage to both vehicles.
Cunanan and Gialon were declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
Police said the van driver was unhurt.
Calderon, the trike driver, was found to have no driver’s license.
The van and the tricycle were placed under police custody for further investigation.
