CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Nine suspects were arrested while 13 unlicensed guns were seized during a weeklong campaign against loose firearms by members of the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) across Central Luzon.
Police records showed that from September 19 to 26, PRO3 personnel implemented nine search warrants leading to the confiscation of pistols, revolvers, shotguns, and ammunition for cal. .40 and 12-gauge shotguns.
PRO3 director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr. commended the operating units for the successful operations, stressing that the crackdown is part of efforts to promote peace and public safety.
“The seizure of these firearms and the arrest of their possessors show our unwavering resolve to rid Central Luzon of instruments of violence,” Peñones said.
“This campaign is not just about taking hold of these weapons—it is about protecting lives, upholding the rule of law, and fostering peace in our communities,” he added.
Peñones emphasized that the anti-loose guns drives are in line with the directive of acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. to intensify law enforcement operations for public safety.
Authorities reminded the public that possession of unlicensed firearms is a criminal offense.
Police urged firearm holders to renew their licenses to avoid prosecution.
