BULAKAN, Bulacan — A seven-year-old girl on Sunday drowned in a swimming pool at a resort in Bgy. San Francisco, this town.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Jess Mendez, the Bulacan police said the victim was a resident of Bgy. Taliptip, Bulakan.
The incident occurred at Villa Alfonso Resort.
A 16-year-old witness accidentally stepped on a clothing beneath the water. Sensing something unusual, the witness looked around and discovered the child already submerged.
He immediately called for help, prompting nearby individuals to dive into the pool and pulled out the victim from the water.
Attempts to revive the child were made while waiting for rescuers.
The girl was rushed to Polymedic Hospital, where attending physician Dr. Archie Fojas declared her dead on arrival.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the drowning.
Police reminded the public to exercise heightened vigilance, especially when children are in swimming areas.
