CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A security guard who allegedly robbed a bank in Iba, Zambales was arrested by the police following a three-day manhunt operation that began on November 17.
Suspect alias “Ger” allegedly pointed his issued cal. .38 revolver at area manager identified only as “Mr. Lopez” during a noon holdup at a bank in Bgy. Palanginan.
The suspect took the P670,070 cash then commandeered a tricycle from another victim, “Henry,” to make his escape.
Pursuing operatives found the tricycle abandoned at a gasoline station in Bgy. Dirita.
Authorities continued coordinating with nearby police stations in search of the suspect.
On November 20, the Sta. Cruz police responded to a report of a man brandishing a firearm inside New Butterfly Bar in Bgy. Pagatpat.
Officers responded and arrested the man who was identified as the suspect in the bank robbery.
A body search yielded a cal. .38 revolver, a hand grenade, a sachet of suspected shabu and some cash.
The suspect is facing charges for robbery, carnapping, and violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Law and Republic Act 9516 or illegal possession of explosive.
Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr. commended the swift police action, saying it reflects the region’s strong commitment to community safety.
He added that the arrest supports the PNP’s Focused Agenda under acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr..
Peñones assured the public that the PRO3 remains committed to maintaining peace and order not only in Zambales but also across Central Luzon.
