THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Regional Field Unit 3 (CIDG RFU3) on Tuesday launched separate buy-bust operations which resulted in the arrest of two men for alleged illegal sale of firearms in Pampanga and Nueva Ecija.
According to CIDG RFU3 chief Col. Grant Gollod, the operations were conducted under OPLAN Paglalansag Omega, the agency’s flagship campaign against loose firearms.
In Pampanga, operatives from the CIDG Pampanga Provincial Field Unit, in coordination with the Bacolor police, arrested alias “Nonato,” 37, in a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Cabalantian, Bacolor.
“Nonato” was caught while selling an unlicensed firearm to a police poseur-buyer.
Seized from the suspect were a cal. .9mm Colt pistol, a steel magazine assembly, seven live rounds of 9mm ammunition, and the marked boodle money.
The arrested suspect was brought to the CIDG Pampanga PFU office for documentation and proper disposition.
In Nueva Ecija, CIDG operatives arrested alias “Gapo,” 44, in Bgy. Bangad, Cabanatuan City.
The suspect was arrested after handing over a firearm to an undercover officer and receiving the buy-bust money.
Confiscated were a cal. .45 pistol, a magazine assembly, two cellular phones, and the buy-bust and boodle money.
Gollod said the operations underscore CIDG’s continuing efforts to curb the proliferation of loose firearms in Central Luzon.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act were filed against the arrested suspects.
