PBBM LAUNCHES ‘LIBRENG TAWAG’ PROGRAM TO SUPPORT OFWS IN MIDDLE EAST

PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has directed telecommunications companies to provide free communication services to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the Middle East, amid ongoing regional tensions.

In a Facebook post, President Marcos said through the “Libreng Tawag” Program, Filipinos working in Iran, Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia can call home without incurring charges.

The President said the initiative also aims to help OFWs confirm their safety and stay connected with their families during uncertain times.

“Our public telecommunications entities will also set up free call stations in selected business centers located in major malls to help families stay in touch with their loved ones abroad,” President Marcos said.

“Through these efforts, we want to ensure that our kababayans can remain connected with their families, offer comfort to one another, and confirm their safety without additional financial burden.”

The program complements other government measures to assist OFWs in the Middle East, underscoring the administration’s commitment to the welfare of Filipino workers abroad.
