CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The Central Luzon police intensified operations against illegal weapons confiscated a total of 636 firearms.
According to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Jess Mendez, the firearms were recovered between February 24 and April 26, 2026, through a combination of police operations and public cooperation.
Of the total number, 239 short firearms and one light weapon were seized during law enforcement operations.
Another 299 short firearms and 13 light weapons were voluntarily surrendered by civilians while 83 short firearms and one light weapon were deposited with authorities for safekeeping.
The operations also resulted in the arrest of 221 individuals for violations of existing firearms laws, reinforcing the region’s crackdown on illegal weapons.
Mendez commended police units and the public for their cooperation, saying the campaign has helped reduce potential threats in communities.
“This accomplishment reflects our sustained and focused efforts to rid our communities of loose firearms. Every firearm accounted for is a potential threat prevented,” he said.
The Central Luzon top cop added that the initiative supports the priority programs of PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., particularly in strengthening police operations, enhancing public safety, and promoting community engagement.
