CAMP GEN. ALEJO S. SANTOS, City of Malolos, Bulacan — Two suspected hijackers on Saturday were killed in a shootout with the police in Bgy. Sampaloc, San Rafael, Bulacan.
Police identified one of the fatalities as Marlon Bautista, 44, of Cauayan, Isabela,
Based on a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. by Bulacan police director Col. Relly Arnedo, two men were also rescued – the 39-year-old truck driver and his 37-year-old male helper.
The victims were found handcuffed and blindfolded inside the truck, along with two cal. .45 pistols.
According to Arnedo, they were informed about a trailer truck carrying 40 tons of corn with discrepancies in the driver’s identity and the intended destination.
Responding cops arrived in Bgy. Sampaloc, where they were met with gun fires, prompting them to fire back, killing the suspects.
Found inside the trailer truck were the handcuffed and blindfolded driver and his male helper.
Arnedo said the incident underscored the crucial role of community cooperation and police vigilance in maintaining public safety.
