“I will make it up to her.”
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. made the remark on Monday after admitting he already missed two dates with First Lady Marie Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos amid his tight schedule.
Marcos told reporters at the sidelines of the ceremonial energization of the Cebu-Negros-Panay 230-KV Backbone Project that he will find ways to treat the First Lady after his state visit to the US.
“Dalawa na miss namin ang date namin,” President Marcos said.
“So kailangan akong babawi pagbalik ko galing sa (United) States. Nagtatampo na sa akin,” he said.
President Marcos is set to leave for the US on Wednesday, April 10, to attend a historical trilateral cooperation with US President Joe Biden and Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the trilateral meeting aims to deepen economic and martime ties of the Philippines with Japan and the US.
Issues on climate change mitigation are also expected to be discussed during the meeting along with the challenges against international rules-based order.
