PEOPLE in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on Thursday were warned not to fall prey on fake dentists who go house-to-house to provide dental services.
Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-BARMM) regional director Lt. Col. Ariel Huesca issued the warning following the arrest of a fake dentist in Lanao del Sur Wednesday afternoon.
“This is a threat to one’s dental health,” Huesca said in a radio interview.
CIDG-BARMM has arrested eight fake dentists in BARMM since January.
Of the eight, three were caught operating their illegal practice in Cotabato City, two in Maguindanao provinces, and three in Lanao del Sur.
Huesca said the fake dentists have been performing dental services like tooth extraction, manufacturing, and fitting of teeth braces,
The official said the suspects failed to present certification, registration, and professional identification cards that resulted in the arrest.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9484 or The Philippine Dental Act of 2007 were filed against the arrested fake dentists.
