P13.5M ECSTASY, KETAMINE DECLARED AS CANNED GOODS, FRUITS FROM DENMARK INTERCEPTED IN PASAY CITY

OPERATIVES of the Bureau of Customs on Friday  intercepted some P13.5 million worth of illegal drugs at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City.

The BOC reported on Saturday that the parcel was initially declared as canned food and fruits from Denmark and was consigned to an individual in Taguig City.

Based on PDEA field testing, the package contained 5,033 pieces of ecstasy tablets and 998 grams of ketamine valued at P13,546,100.

The BOC said the consignee will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Section 1401 (Unlawful Importation) under the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
