CLARK FREEPORT — Metro Clark Waste Management Corporation (MCWMC) has complied to the rules imposed by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Clark Development Corporation (CDC) said.
As the service agreement between MCWMC and CDC nears its expiry, CDC president and CEO attorney Agnes VST Devanadera remains committed to ensuring environmental compliance.
In a letter dated May 28, Devanadera wrote to the Environmental Management Bureau Regional Office 3 of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-EMB Central Luzon Region) to request a copy of MCWMC’s Abandonment Plan.
In response to CDC’s inquiry, Martin Jose Despi, Regional Director of EMB-R3, stated in a letter dated June 4 that MCWMC was required to submit a Safe Closure Disposal Site Plan and Abandonment Plan, citing General Provision No. 9 of Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) No. RO3-1507-0301, which mandates submission 90 days before project abandonment.
The Clark Sanitary Landfill is located at Sitio Kalangitan, Clark Special Economic Zone.
