DISMISSED Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo on Monday morning was transferred to Pasig City Jail female dormitory.
Guo was earlier detained in Camp Crame, Quezon City after her arrest.
Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 167 issued an arrest warrant for Guo and other suspects for qualified trafficking.
Wearing a bulletproof vest and helmet, the former mayor left Camp Crame at around 8:50 a.m. and arrived in Pasig City Jail around an hour later.
Guo is the 45th occupant of Pasig City Jail cell built for nine detainees.
Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) spokesperson Supt. Jayrex Bustinera assured that Guo will be safe at the BJMP-supervised Pasig City Jail.
“We had special arrangement for security. We provided additional personnel. We tightened our security because of her. The BJMP assures her safety and security,” Bustinera said.
Philippine National Police spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said Guo underwent the required medical and physical examination conducted by the PNP General Hospital and the Forensic Group.
During the medical examination, the doctor found a probable infection in her left lung.
Fajardo said Guo was experiencing cough and colds before her transfer to the Pasig City Jail.
She said Guo’s lung infection might have developed over the weekend.
Meanwhile, Bustinera said since Guo was found to be suffering from a possible lung infection, she will be in isolation for a few days.
Guo will join three other persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) suffering from tuberculosis (TB) in an isolation area that has a size of 10 sq. meters.
“The medical result was confirmed and we recommended to our Health Service to isolate her,” Bustinera said.
However, the dismissed Bamban mayor tested negative for tuberculosis.
“Alice Guo was transferred immediately to her assigned cell. She will be sharing the cell with 43 other PDLs,” Bustinera said.
