POLICE on Tuesday night arrested a candidate for barangay captain in Bulacan and four others in a drug buy-bust operation in the city of Malolos.
The names of the arrested suspects were withheld pending further investigation.
Based on a report submitted to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. , the sting was conducted at 11:55 p.m. on Tuesday in Bgy. Sumapang Bata, Malolos City, Bulacan.
Members of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of the Malolos City Police Station seized from two of the suspects one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu and the P1,000 buy-bust money.
Another six pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of the “poor man’s cocaine” weighing 25 grams worth P170,000 and some drug paraphernalia were confiscated during the operation.
The arrested suspects were charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Hidalgo said the Central Luzon cops remain committed to their mission of eradicating the illegal drug trade in the region and upholding the rule of law.
