THE 21st Quezon City Council or the Sangguniang Panglungsod has bagged the Outstanding Sanggunian in Highly Urbanized Cities (HUCs) in the regional level of the 2023 Local Legislative Award (LLA) garnering a remarkable 99.5 percent rating.
Given out jointly by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Philippine Councilors League (PCL), the feat has automatically earned the QC Council under the leadership of Vice Mayor Gian Sotto a nomination in the national level of the 2023 LLA for the performance year 2019-2022.
In besting all other metro local councils, the 21st QC Council ranked first based on the award’s auditing indicators, attaining high scores in the responsiveness of legislative agenda, effectiveness of performance, efficiency in the performance of legislative citation and award.
Likewise, it got the nod on the capacity development for legislators and staff not to mention its availability of legislative documents.
HUCs throughout the country were vetted by the Regional Awards Committee (RAC) which is chaired by the DILG-NCR and composed of representatives from the PCL, the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines (VMLP) the Metro Manila Councilors League (MMCL), the DILG and other government agencies of the country.
The QC Council was also recognized for its outstanding achievements principally for its introduction of innovative concepts and practices that significantly enhanced the implementation of initiatives, particularly in formulating legislation that is responsive to the diverse needs of local communities in its jurisdiction.
“This is a proud moment for the 21st City Council and more importantly our fellow Quezon Citizen. With humility but with a great sense of accomplishment, the City Council considers this recognition as a testament to the hard work and dedication of the officials and employees of the legislative department in pursuit of the city government’s advocacy of a “StrongFamily, STrongQC” to deliver programs and projects that are needed to address the various concerns of the metropolis,” Vice Mayor Sotto said
