A FORMER mayor of Cateel in Davao Oriental on Wednesday was shot dead in Davao City.
Slain was Giselo Velasco Castillones, the mayor of Cateel from 1983 to 1986.
The gun attack occurred outside a fast food chain in Bgy. Buhangin in Davao City.
Castillones was about to leave the food establishment in a car when shot several times at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
The gunman fled on a motorcycle.
The former mayor’s driver, Junie Castro, who was wounded, was brought to the nearest hospital for treatment.
Responding lawmen recovered at the crime scene five empty shells from a cal. .45 pistol.
An investigation is ongoing.
