A SURPRISE inspection at the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) by officers of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has seized improvised weapons and other prohibited items.
The operation dubbed “Oplan Galugad” targeted the Medium and Maximum-Security Camps in Davao del Norte.
Seized during the security sweep were various contraband such as improvised knives, unauthorized items like cellular phones, pocket Wi-Fi devices, chargers, sim cards, and playing cards.
According to the BuCor, the primary goal of the surprise inspection was to curb violence among incarcerated individuals at the DPPF and to thwart the proliferation of illegal drugs within the facility.
Through the decisive actions, authorities aim to uphold order and security within the prison facilities, ensuring the well-being of both staff members and prisoners.
BuCor officials said persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) found violating the Prison Rules and Regulations during the searches will face administrative charges before the Board of Discipline.
Aside from the DPPF, other prison facilities under the BuCor are the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Puerto Princesa City; Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Oriental Mindoro; Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City; New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City; and Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) in Southern Leyte.
