A FEMALE village chief and her husband on Thursday was shot dead by riding-in-tandem assassins in Ramos, Tarlac.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., the Tarlac police identified the fatalities as barangay chairwoman Edita Sarsuela, 61, and her husband, Edgar Sarsuela, 61, of Bgy. Plastado, Gerona, Tarlac.
An initial investigation showed that the victims were on their routine biking when upon reaching Sitio Bancag, Bgy. San Juan in Ramos town, the suspects on a plateless motorcycle, suddenly overtook them then fired shots at them.
The gunmen fled after the shooting.
Police immediately ordered a dragnet operation and searched for CCTV footages near the crime scene to identify and arrest the killers.
