OPERATIVES of the Police Regional Office 7 on Monday arrested a top drug suspect in Central Visayas and seized some 10 kilos of shabu worth P68-million in a buy-bust operation in Cebu City.
Nabbed was Harvey Torres, a native of San Pablo City, Laguna and a resident of Grand Residence Condominium in Bgy. Kasambagan, Cebu City.
Undercover officers from the PRO7 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit placed the suspect under arrest shortly after he sold drugs to a poseur on President Roxas Street in Bgy. Kasambagan around 9 p.m. Monday.
The 30-year-old jobless man-turned “high-value target” in Central Visayas yielded 10 heat-sealed plastic packets, each containing a kilo of the “poor man’s cocaine,” and the buy-bust money topped by two marked P500 bills during the sting.
According to Torres, he is a trustee and “bodegero” of illegal drugs and is said to be able to dispose of one to three kilos of shabu per week.
He said he was paid by his boss P50,000 to transport the illegal drugs to Cebu.
Charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were filed against the arrested suspect.
