THREE people were killed in a fire that hit a residential area in Molo District, Iloilo City before dawn Saturday.
The names of the victims, who were found burnt beyond recognition, were being verified.
Police said the fire started at 4:42 a.m. Saturday in a house in Zone 3, Bgy. Habog-Habog Salvacion.
The blaze quickly spread to the nearby houses made-up of light materials.
The fire reached fourth alarm before it was declared fire out at 6:59 a.m. yesterday.
An initial report from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Iloilo City said 54 houses were destroyed by the blaze.
The Iloilo City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) said the affected families were evacuated to the nearby Baluarte Elementary School.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
On Friday, a fire also gutted a crowded residential area in Cavite, leaving four people dead.
