TAYABAS CITY – An old grudge between two brothers ended up in a bloody confrontation resulting to death and injury in Bgy. Isabang, this city on Monday, New Year’s day.
Quezon police director Col. Ledon Monte identified the fatalities as Elgelito Ormacido, 64, and his son Joselito, 38.
Rico, the 37-year-old another son of Elgelito, also suffered bullet wounds and is being treated at the hospital.
Meanwhile, Armendo Ormacido, brother of Elgelito, sustained deep wounds in the body after he was hacked by Joselito a few seconds before the shooting.
Police investigation showed that prior to the incident, Vincent Lingahan, a grandson of Armendo went to the nearby house of the trio, where they had an argument.
Vincent then quickly ran away and was followed by the trio who were armed by a bolo.
Elgelito and his sons later saw Vincent in the company of Armendo and other companions, including Army Sgt. Jasper Peramo, resulting in the wounding of Armendo.
Peramo allegedly pulled his service pistol and shot the hacking trio.
Elgelito and his son Joselito died on the spot while Rico was injured.
Armendo fled with all his companions while Peramo surrendered to the police, claiming what he did was an act of self defense.
In a follow up operation, police arrested Vincent and his siblings Elmer, Christian and Venson Linggahan.
Members of the Quezon Provincial Forensic Unit who processed the crime scene recovered six spent shells for a cal. 46 pistol and a bolo.
It was learned that brothers Elgelito and Armendo have been separated by an old grudge after the former hacked the in-law of the latter.
