CAMP BRIG. GEN. VICENTE LIM, Calamba, Laguna – A total of 18,135 joint security forces were deployed to safeguard the populace in Calabarzon region for the Semana Santa and Summer Vacation 2024.
Of the number, 7,382 are from PNP Calabarzon, 802 from augmented unit, and 9,951 from advocacy groups.
The joint effort seeks to enhance vigilance, maintain peace, and prevent potential security threats throughout the region during the period.
The PRO4A troops and augmented forces, as well as advocacy groups, were strategically stationed across critical areas such as tourist destinations, transportation hubs, religious sites, and residential neighborhoods to deter criminal activities and respond promptly to any incidents.
“The safety of our citizens and visitors are our top priorities, especially during significant occasions like Holy Week and Summer Vacation. Through the concerted efforts of the PNP, other government agencies, and our community partners, we aim to create a secure environment where everyone can enjoy the festivities with peace of mind,” said Police Regional Office 4A (Calabarzon) Director Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth T Lucas.
Lucas also encouraged residents and tourists to cooperate with authorities by remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the designated hotlines and Police Assistance Desks.
Meanwhile, an inter-agency coordination was made earlier among government agencies, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Department of Transportation, Department of Tourism, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Local Government Units to ensure a cohesive response to security challenges.
In Cavite, around 2,500 policemen were also sent to secure the Holy Week and summer vacation (SumVac) in the province from March 25 to May 31.
Simultaneous send-off ceremony of security forces and resources, and inter-agency coordinating meeting were held for the observance of the Semana Santa 2024.
Cavite Provincial Police Office Director Col. Eleuterio Ricardo Jr. led the send-off rites held at the Covered Court inside Camp BGen Pantaleon Garcia, in Bgy. Poblacion 1-B. Imus City, Cavite.
