THREE members of the communist terror group (CTG) on Sunday were killed in an encounter with members of the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division of the Philippine Army in Tuy, Batangas.
Soldiers from the 59th Infantry Battalion were conducting security operation in Bgy. Acle in Tuy when they were fired upon by armed members of the communist terrorist group operating in Southern Tagalog.
A 10 minute-firefight followed another encounter in the nearby Bgy. Bolboc as soldiers pursued the fleeing members of the New People’s Army (NPA).
Two males and a female member of the terror group died during the gunfights.
No casualties were reported on the government side.
Recovered at the encounter sites were an M16, one Uzi rifle, an R4 rifle, and an improvised hand grenade.
2ID commander Maj. Gen. Roberto Capulong expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the slain terrorists, explaining that while they do not rejoice in the death of their fellow Filipinos, soldiers have a duty to uphold in protecting the people and ensuring a peaceful environment for all.
He reiterated the call for the remaining communist terror group (CTG) members to surrender and avail themselves of the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), which offers various benefits, including financial assistance, livelihood programs, and psychological support to former rebels who choose to return to the fold of the law.
The latest clash was part of the ongoing intensified security operations against the terrorists in Southern Luzon, aiming to dismantle the remaining strongholds of the communist insurgents and restore lasting peace in the region.
