MOTORCYCLE-RIDING armed men on Tuesday attacked a barangay chairman and a Sangguniang Bayan member killing one of them in front of the barangay hall in Bgy. Telapayong, Arayat, Pampanga.
Pampanga police director Col. Jay Dimaandal identified the victims as Bgy. Batasan, Arayat, Pampanga chairman Julito Trinidad and councilor Federico Hipolito.
Hipolito was declared dead on arrival at the hospital while the village chair is undergoing treatment.
The victims were in a white Toyota FJ cruiser with plate number AKA 9514 when they stopped in front of the village hall.
The duo were alighting the vehicle when the suspects on a motorcycle suddenly appeared and fired several shots at Trinidad and Hipolito.
Witnesses rushed the victims to Magalang District Hospital but Hipolito was declared dead on arrival.
The suspects fled towards Magalang, Pampanga and are being hunted by the police.
In a Facebook post, Gov. Delta Pineda expressed condolences to Hipolito’s family as he seeks justice for the councilor’s killing.
