ANOTHER impeachment complaint on Wednesday (Dec. 4, 2024) was filed against Vice President Sara Duterte in the House of Representatives.
The complaint was filed by 75 individuals composed of youth leaders and sectoral representatives.
It was the ssecond impeachment rap filed against VP Sara.
The second complaint only cited betrayal of public trust as the ground for impeachment.
The first complaint included graft and corruption, bribery, and other high crimes.

Lawmakers from the Makabayan bloc – Rep. Raoul Manuel (Kabataan Partylist), Rep. Arlene Brosas (Gabriela Women’s Party), and Rep. France Castro (ACT Teachers Partylist) – endorsed the second impeachment complaint, which was sworn in before House Secretary General Reginal Velasco.
Former Bayan Muna Rep. Teddy Casiño said the reason for citing betrayal of public trust stems from the alleged “abuse, misuse, and wastage” of P612.5 million in confidential and intelligence funds from VP Sara’s offices — the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and, previously, the Department of Education (DepEd).
On Monday, December 2, the first impeachment complaint against the Vice President endorsed by Akbayan Party-list Rep. Perci Cendaña was filed by sectoral representatives, religious leaders and relatives of individuals killed under the drug war of former President Rodrigo Duterte (FPRRD).
The House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability is investigating the alleged irregularities in the use of public funds by the OVP, as well as the DepEd from 2022 to July 2024, the time VP Sara served as its secretary.
VP Sara maintained that there was no irregularity in the use of public funds allocated to her office.
