THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Regional Office – VII on Monday or two days before Christmas released a total of P1.4 million worth of financial assistance under the Agarang Kalinga at Saklolo Para sa mga OFW na Nangangailangan (AKSON) Fund to 33 OFW-beneficiaries.
Beneficiaries were returning OFWs who experienced different types of distressful circumstances throughout their stay abroad while they strived to provide a better life for themselves and their families.

The program aims to allow these OFWs and their next-of-Kin (NOKs) to recover from their unfortunate experiences brought about their deployment in foreign lands and gain the ability to return to normalcy and reintegrate themselves back to society.
Fourteen beneficiaries came from the various municipalities of Cebu province; nine from Cebu City; one from Cebu City; four from Lapulapu City; three from Bohol; while two came from Negros Oriental for a total of 33 beneficiaries.
OIC-Regional Director Karl Frederick L. Arriola, together with the chiefs from the different divisions, personally handed over the cheques to beneficiaries during the turn-over ceremony held at the DMW RO-VII Office.
As of 23 December 2024, the DMW RO-VII has released over P5 million worth of financial assistance under the AKSON Funds benefiting 95 OFWs and/or their next-of-kin.
