SIX persons were arrested by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for allegedly “selling” positions in the Bangsamoro parliament for millions of pesos.
Nabbed were Diahn Dagohoy, Bolkisah Datadacula, Alejandro Lorino Jr., Joseph Catunao, Leomer Abon and Tita Natividad.
The six were caught in an entrapment operation at the Manila Hotel on Thursday.
According to NBI Director Jaime Santiago, a complaint was filed Thursday before the office of the Special Task Force (STF) and Cybercrime Division (CCD), alleging that on Dec. 29, 2024, Dagohoy contacted the complainant and offered him a seat as a member of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARRM) Parliament for P8 million.
The complainant alleged that Dagohoy and her group claimed to be employees of the Office of the President.
Dagohoy allegedly promised the complainant that the latter’s son and nephew will be appointed in the BARMM parliament for P15 million.
The complainant said Dagohoy assured that the two positions would be reserved for them, further claiming that the “appointees” would be taking their oaths of office by January 3.
The complainant became suspicious and sought the help of the authorities.
A meeting was set up and the suspects were arrested after they received the marked money.
Charges of syndicated estafa and usurpation of authority or official functions are being readied for filing in court against the arrested suspects.
