A 15-YEAR-OLD girl on Friday was found stabbed dead in a forested area in Mulanay, Quezon.
The victim, a Grade 10 student, sustained a stab wound in the neck.
Mulanay police chief Maj. Joseph Ian Java said “Mika,” not her real name, was discovered lifeless in a bush in Bgy. Anonang at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
A witness told police that he saw the suspect, identified only as Marcelo, a resident of Bgy. Magsaysay, chasing the victim in Sitio Campalacio.
The victim, he added, was crying while trying to flee from the suspect.
The witness immediately sought the help of village officials, who proceeded to the area but found the victim already dead.
Investigators expressed belief Marcelo tried to molest the girl, but she resisted, prompting the suspect to stab her.
Quezon police director Col. Ruben Lacuesta ordered a manhunt for the suspect, who escaped after the killing.
