FOR A STRONGER PCG. Senate President Francis “Chiz” G. Escudero during January 14, 2025 plenary session moves to reconsider the approval on second reading of House Bill No. 10841, the Revised Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Law which seeks to strengthen the PCG by introducing policy and organizational reforms, including fixing the term of PCG commandant. The bill was passed on second reading on December 18, 2024 after closing the periods of interpellation and amendments on the same day. “I believe it is in our best interest to take an opportunity to refine the provision (of the bill) and as such I’m seeking to reconsider its approval,” Escudero said, as he proposed to amend the transitory provisions of the bill. HBN 10841 was later approved on second reading. (Senate Public Relations and Information Bureau)
