THE Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), in partnership with the Quezon City government, conducted a special job fair to Filipino jobseekers in Taiwan at the District 1 Main Office in Quezon City.
Philippine-licensed recruitment agencies and Taiwanese employer-members of Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), participated in the job fair held on Friday, where they offer approved job orders in the manufacturing industry in Taiwan, with no placement fees.
Taiwanese employers will cover the costs for medical examinations, NBI clearances, PSA certifications, and passports for new applicants.
In Taiwan, workers will not be charged a monthly service fee, as these expenses are covered by the employers.
The starting salary is NT$28,590 or approximately PHP 50,000, with annual increases based on the Foreign Service Act and a 6% tax rate.
Workers may also qualify for a tax refund after one year.
The job fair was the third leg of job caravan conducted by MECO and DMW, with the first leg held in Cabanatuan on January 6, 2025, followed by the second leg in Bulacan on January 8, 2025.
Present during the job fair program were MECO chair Cheloy Garafil, MECO Board of Director Renato L. Ebarle, DMW Undersecretaries Felicitas Q. Bay and Dominique Rubia-Tutay, Assistant Secretaries Levinson C. Alcantara and Violeta D. Illescas, Director Rosemarie G. Duquez, Labor Attache Cesar L. Chavez, and PCW Commissioner Hon.
