CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – Police on Wednesday arrested a 26-year-old construction worker for violation of the Comelec gun ban during a routine checkpoint operation in Bgy. Pambuan, Gapan City.
Members of the 303rd Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3 (RMFB3) and the Gapan City Police Station (CPS) were manning a checkpoint when they flagged down a motorcycle with two individuals.
However, the motorcycle driver fled towards Gapan City proper, leaving his passenger behind.
The passenger, later identified as “Jose,” was apprehended and subjected to a routine search.
During the search, “Jose” yielded an unlicensed cal. .45 pistol with four rounds of ammunition. He was arrested after he failed to present any legal document for the firearm.
“Jose” will be charged with violation of the Omnibus Election Code and Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
“This operation highlights our commitment to enforcing the law and maintaining peace and order. We will not tolerate any violation of election laws or firearms regulations,” Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jean S. Fajardo said.
“We call on the public to cooperate and report any suspicious activities to help us ensure a peaceful and orderly election,” said added.
Fajardo reminded the public the importance of adhering to regulations, especially during the election period, including the strict implementation of the Comelec gun ban, to ensure peace and order in the community.
