CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – Seven communist rebels in Central Luzon returned to the fold of the law.
The Police Regional Office (PRO 3) reported on Thursday that five of the surrenderees were from Nueva Ecija province, one from Pampanga and another from Aurora.
Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said that on February 11, an intelligence-driven internal security operation led by personnel from the Aurora 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), in coordination with the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) and Maria Aurora police, resulted in the surrender of alias “Glaiza,” a 37-year-old former member of Iskwad Tersera, Bagong Hukbong Bayan operating in Aurora province.
“Glaiza” turned over an unserviceable cal. .38 revolver with no serial number.
On the same day, joint forces from the Pampanga 1st PMFC, Macabebe police, San Simon police, Apalit police, Masantol police, 2nd PMFC, and the Intelligence Section of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3 facilitated the surrender of alias “Ben,” a 56-year-old former AMGL-KMP member.
“Ben” handed over to the authorities one piece of 40mm M203 grenade launcher ammunition.
On February 6, a coordinated effort by various police units, including the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office, 1st PMFC, Zaragosa police, Quezon police, and Cabanatuan City police led to surrender of five members of the Alyansa ng Mamamayang Nagkakaisa-Fort Magsaysay Military Reservation (ALMANA-FMMR), a support group of AMGL-Nueva Ecija Chapter.
The five were identified as alias “Dodong” (63, farmer), alias “Boyet” (38, driver), alias “Amay” (67, vendor), alias “Ino” (51, farmer), and alias “Isto” (61, farmer and electrician), who said they were recruited by Tom Guevarra in 2015.
Authorities said the surrenders underscored the effectiveness of Executive Order 70, which institutionalized the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).
Fajardo commended the relentless efforts of all involved units, emphasizing the PNP’s commitment to peace and security.
