A TWO-SEATER Cessna plane on Sunday crashed leaving a pilot and a student pilot dead in Lingayen, Pangasinan.
Authorities withheld the names of the victims pending notification of family members.
However, it was learned that the victims were a 31-year-old male pilot instructor from Baguio City and a 25-year-old male student pilot from Bulacan.
Lingayen Police Station OIC Lt. Col. Amor Mio Somine said they received the report about the crash at 8:40 a.m. Sunday.
Initial probe showed that the aircraft touched down at Lingayen Airport and was completing its final rotation when it nosedived into a swampy area in Bgy. Libsong East in Lingayen.
Somine, citing information from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), said after a few minutes of landing, the plane took off again but crashed just a few meters from the airport.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the plane crash.
