CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – Police on Wednesday arrested two men after a search in their houses yielded guns in Arayat, Pampanga.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, joint operatives from the Pampanga Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU), SWAT Pampanga, 2nd and 1st Provincial Mobile Force Companies (PMFC), Regional Intelligence Division 3, Arayat Municipal Police Station (MPS), and the Tactical Support Company (TSC) RMFB3 carried out separate search warrant operations in Bgy. San Mateo in Arayat.
According to Pampanga police director Col. Jay Dimaandal, the first search warrant was served at the house of alias “Baby Ambo,” 56, of Bgy. San Mateo, Arayat.
Seized were one 5.56mm M16 Colt rifle, four short magazines, two long magazines, two magazines for a cal..45 pistol, a rifle grenade, 236 rounds of 5.56mm live ammunition, and other related items.
Meanwhile, a search warrant served at the residence of an alias “Amang,” 72, of San Mateo Road, Bgy. San Mateo led to the confiscation of a cal..45 pistol, three M16 rifle magazines with live ammunition, a disassembled M16 rifle upper and lower receiver, and another rifle grenade.
Both arrested suspects were brought to the Arayat Police Station facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
In preparation for the upcoming May 12 midterm elections, Fajardo stressed the critical need to address the threat posed by loose firearms.
“As we approach the May 2025 National and Local Elections, ensuring that all firearms are properly registered and accounted for remains a top priority for PRO3. These recent operations in Arayat are part of our ongoing efforts to eliminate illegal firearms and ensure public safety,” Fajardo said.
