COMBINED operatives of the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group and the Police Regional Office 4-A last Sunday captured two Chinese nationals accused of kidnapping three Asian nationals in Nasugbu, Batangas.
Nabbed at a police checkpoint in Bacoor City, Cavite were suspects Huang Yuze, 27; and Zhao Li Shan, 29, both Chinese nationals.
PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil on Wednesday said the arrest of the two came two days after the duo were accused of involvement in the abduction of two Chinese nationals and a Korean in Bgy. Balaytigue, Nasugbu, Batangas.
The names of the victims were withheld.
An investigation showed the victims were on a fishing trip when they were snatched by at least seven suspects.
They were released unharmed by their captors on May 2 after paying ransom.
However, surveillance footage and some witnesses suggested a possible “inside job” in the kidnap-for-ransom case.
PNP-AKG agents under Col. David N. Poklay, with the help of officers from the PRO4-A under Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth T. Lucas, arrested the suspects in a follow-up operation.
Confiscated from the suspects were a cal..45 and a 9mm semi-automatic pistol with magazines containing several live ammunition.
The arrested Chinese nationals were inquested for kidnapping and violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 before the Department of Justice (DOJ).
The PNP chief commended the PNP-AKG and PRO4-A men for the arrest of the suspects.
